Staff Report — Bylaw 1659, Amendment No. 5 to Speed Limit Bylaw 1175, 2008
Date: October 3, 2016
Department: Engineering
Background
The purpose of this report and the proposed Bylaw 1659 is as a housekeeping item for the City’s Speed Limit Bylaw.
Commentary
Prior to Leigh Road being extended and opened at Henry Eng Place in September 2016, Leigh Road from Dunford Ave, down around the lake to the end (now Leigh Place) was a designated 30 km/hr zone.
With the recent completion of the Leigh Road extension, Leigh Road south of Dunford Avenue is now 50 km/hr. As a housekeeping item and in keeping with the residential portion of Leigh Place (previously Leigh Road) the 30 km/hr speed zone will remain.
The current Speed Limit Bylaw wording is 30 km/hr for Leigh Road (South of Dunford), to the end of the new Leigh Place. Staff are proposing to keep Leigh Place as 30 km/hr and remove the reference on Leigh Road between Dunford Avenue and Leigh Place.
