SPECIAL (IN-CAMERA) COUNCIL MEETINGS

SPECIAL (IN-CAMERA) COUNCIL MEETINGS

Policy No. 0570.00.006
Notice of a Special (In-Camera) Council Meeting shall be given by the Municipal Clerk, in accordance with Section 223 of the Municipal Act; unless notice is waived by unanimous consent of all the members of Council.
At the appointed time and place, the Special (In-Camera) Council Meeting shall commence in open meeting assembled.
The Agenda shall be circulated to the Council by the Municipal Clerk.
The Council shall pass a resolution that it is the opinion of the Council that the public interest requires that persons other than members of the Council and Officers be excluded from the meeting, and state in advance the basis on which the meeting is to be closed pursuant to section 242.2 of the Municipal Act.
The Council shall also pass a resolution to continue the Special Meeting in closed session.
The Council, by resolution, shall approve the Agenda, which will provide for a listing of all topics to be considered by the Council including the adoption of the minutes of any previous Special (In-Camera) Council Meetings.
Any resolution passed during a Special (In-Camera) Council Meeting which Council wishes to bring forward to the public, shall include a reference for the Mayor to rise and report on the matter at the next open meeting of the Council under the Agenda heading “Reports.”
